Instance Design ("we", "us", or "our") operates SideNote. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the SideNote browser extension and related services (the "Service"). By using SideNote, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

We collect information necessary to provide the Service. This may include: account information (such as your name, email address, and identifier from your sign-in provider when you use X (Twitter), Google, or email to create an account); the content of your notes; and basic usage metadata such as timestamps and device or browser type where relevant to the operation of the Service.

We use your information to provide, maintain, and improve the Service; to authenticate your account and keep your notes synced across devices; to process payments when you subscribe to a Pro plan (via our payment provider); and to respond to your requests or support needs. We do not use your notes or personal data for advertising or marketing purposes.

We use cookies and similar technologies for account sign-in (auth and session cookies) and to remember your preferences within the Service. We do not use tracking or analytics cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling certain cookies may affect your ability to use the Service.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure with access controls so that only you can access your own notes. We take reasonable measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No system can guarantee complete security; we encourage you to use a strong password and keep your account credentials safe.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data or your notes. We share information only as needed to operate the Service: for example, with our payment provider (Polar) when you subscribe to a Pro plan. We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect our rights, safety, or the rights and safety of others.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you and to request correction or deletion. To request deletion of your account and all associated data, please email us at gaddafirusli@gmail.com. We will process your request in accordance with applicable law. You may also withdraw your consent to our processing where consent is the legal basis; doing so may limit your ability to use the Service.

8. Children's Privacy

SideNote is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will take steps to delete that information.

9. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with X (Twitter) for its core functionality and uses a third-party payment provider for Pro subscriptions. These services have their own privacy policies and practices. We are not responsible for how they collect, use, or share your information. We encourage you to review their privacy policies when you use their services.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
